Spotify is a popular music streaming service, it is now available for MacOS, Windows and Linux operating systems. Spotify allows instant access to millions of songs to users. This post will demonstrate how to install Spotify on Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver
Installation using Ubuntu software center
Go to the Ubuntu Software center and search for Spotify.
Click on Spotify Icon, this will lead to another page. Where you will find install button, just click on it to install Spotify.
Installation using Snap
Installing Spotify using Snap is easiest method available for Ubuntu. Run following command in your terminal to install it using Snap
snap install spotify
Installation using apt-get or Debian package
Spotifiy for Linux is also available as a debian package. Run following command in your terminal to install it using debian package.
Add Spotify repository signing keys to verify downloaded packages
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 931FF8E79F0876134EDDBDCCA87FF9DF48BF1C90
Add Spotify repository address to Ubuntu repo source list
echo deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/spotify.list
Update all packages available in your Ubuntu repo source list
sudo apt-get update
Install Spotify using apt-get
sudo apt-get install spotify-client
Start using Spotify
Spotify is successfully installed in your Ubuntu computer. You can launch it either by searching it in installed applications or simply run spotify in your terminal to launch Spotify
